Fence installation in Vaughan

Vaughan stretches from historic Kleinburg and the Humber valley to the dense blocks around the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Property Fence installs fences on rural-edge lots, established Woodbridge streets and newer Maple subdivisions.

What we account for in Vaughan

  • Townhouse and infill lots
  • Pool enclosures
  • Kleinburg heritage fences
  • Humber River valley lots

Neighbourhoods we serve

We've completed projects across Vaughan including Woodbridge's established streets, Concord's newer subdivisions, and Maple's mature lots.

Local considerations

Vaughan has both large rural-edge properties and tight townhouse lots, so post spacing, gate placement and material choice change from job to job. Lots backing onto the Humber valley can also fall in a conservation-regulated area.

How tall can a fence be in Vaughan?

Rear and side yards: 2.0 m. Front yard: 1.2 m within 2.4 m of a lot line next to a street (2.0 m further back). Outside the front yard, up to 2.5 m where the fence abuts a non-residential or multi-residential property, a public highway or a public walkway. On a corner lot, the fence must not block the sight triangle.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Vaughan?

The by-law sets height limits for ordinary fences. A fence taller than those limits needs a Fence By-law Exemption from the City, and a pool enclosure needs a permit.

What are the pool fence rules in Vaughan?

Minimum enclosure height: 1.22 m. Any pool 30 in (about 0.76 m) deep or more needs a permit before you put it up or dig for it. Gates must self-close and self-latch.

Does a conservation authority affect fence work in Vaughan?

If the lot is in a TRCA-regulated area, such as a valley, floodplain or shoreline, work there can need a TRCA permit. Ontario Regulation 41/24 exempts some fences that meet set criteria.
